I Dare You

Go ahead, you live
Watch me, I die
Feel free, live happy
Call me crazy as I cry

You value your life
And mine? You drag, you deny
Many times you promised
Ten moons later, you’re still behind.

What is in a life?
How long will it last?
What does it mean to be happy?
How sad can sad be?

You decide where to live
I follow behind
As a wife with no job
You grant me no rights!

Be my guest, control my life
Die laughing if you might
You can kill my bones and flesh
But my wants and wishes, will forever mine…

  1. Good poem. It's very sad, with more than a touch of anger. Things like this always stir my feelings of protection, and make me angry. How can somebody do that to another. Again, very good.

  2. But I rather prefer to look at the beautiful side of the flower.

  3. Great poem, hope it doesn't apply to you. :) What brought me here is your beautiful flower, I saw your thumbnail from Sabino Canyon blog.

  4. Icy, another strongly written poem, the emotions i can almost feel, haunting and sharing the angst. I wish I am near you to give you a hug. I can see clearly why you take pictures of the flowers beautifully.

  5. Ratty,

I have the same question for years, how is one person has so much power another?

    rainfield,

    Enjoy the flower!

    Pacey,

Thanks for coming and taking your time for with my posts!

    betchai,

I can feel the hug already, my dear friend!

  6. That gave me chills just reading it. Very powerfully written with deep sadness in each line. I also hope it doesn't apply to you.

  9. Wow, this is a powerful piece, Icy. There is a lot of bitterness in those words, but this is a really important topic. No one should have the power to repress anyone like that. Nicely done with lots of emotion...

  10. WOw, I've seen this flower on another blog I guess. And was wondering what it's called. So unique.

  11. Beautiful photo! Bitter words! I am glad to read in the comments that you are in a better place. Strange though, how those emotions can creep up to bite you still. I am sending you hugs. And, thank you for dropping by my blog.

  12. roentarre,

    Thank you!

    Michele,

It's the most terrible thing to feel, but I'm out now!

    Pacey,

I may be wrong, but I think it's in the gerbera daisy family!

    Dragonsongbird,

It's still creeping in, and tearing me apart sometimes, but at least I'm not in that situation anymore!

  13. Your poem just resonated with me. I'm there, coming out - but ready to overwhelm me if I should let it (I choose not to - but not always the easiest to do).

Beautiful, powerful - not pretty, but no one ever said the truth was!

I'm glad you are out, and choose happiness. I also choose happiness, but I must acknowledge all the terrible/ugly feelings as well!
