Something Yellow, Something Pink

Living smack in the middle of the city, I am not exposed to nature scenery, and trails. If you count my front yard and backyard as nature, then it is so!

The closest place for me to explore is Belle Isle, and you can find me in the Conservatory, or sometimes sitting by the river to watch my son fishes! We work out an agreement to give me time for pictures taking, and to give him time to fish or looking for rocks and shells.

Just a little confession: I usually have more time for my flowers than he does with his fishing, because he wants to move from one spot to the next!

Young Flower

Again, I don't know the name of this unique flower! I just aim and shoot if it is interesting and strange looking to me. This flower is just beautifully posed.

Mommy and Baby

When my son spots this one, he said: "It's a mommy and a baby!" So, I will call it just that! We seem to always make it to the Conservatory when there are lots of visitors during the weekend. Week day never seem to work out for us.

A Group

These flowers are all open, and there are white petals growing out from them. I wish the picture were more in focus, but with a point and shoot camera, I can't ask for more.

Flowers With Wings

This one stands alone, and the two white petals coming out from the sides make them look like wings. It is ready to take off!

Pink Flowers

If you notice, these pink flowers have the same shape as the yellow ones above, but their leaves are totally different.

A Closer Look

The pink leaves look so soft which have vivid texture and pattern on them. Maybe I should employ a secretary to take note, or write down the name of this plant next time I go to the Conservatory. (I wish!)

Having a Conversation

These five pink flowers are engaging in a conversation! Can you see it? They are communicating and displaying their involvement with each other.

One Big Bunch

Isn't this flower amazing! It looks like an umbrella. I couldn't see the stem of this flower anywhere, but when I look up I must snap a few shots!

Closer Please

This is as far as I can zoom in with my Cannon Power Shot camera! I am not a fan of the color pink, but this shade and tone are just perfect. Very light and pretty!

Another Group

You can see some white petals growing out of these pink flowers. If anyone knows the name of this plant, please tell me. I would love to find out!

I have noticed that some plants don't have the name tags by them either at Belle Ilse. It is hard to try to take pictures, find out the names, write it down, and deal with traffic of people!

I Love the flowers that engaged in conversation. But they look like arguing rather than talking, with their mouth wide open.

In California we had plants like those in our garden, and I think they're called shrimp plants. The pink one in your pictures must be a special variety with those interesting spotted leaves. Nice photos!

I like the flowers that look like they're talking too. I saw it immediately. I used to work less than a mile away from Belle Isle. I used to sometimes go there to eat lunch. I haven't been there for a while. I miss it.

rainfield61,

I agree, that was my initial thought, but then I rather go for conversation instead!

Diane,

Shrimp plants? They do look like shrimps..

Ratty,

Go during the week days, less people, and more enjoyment :-)

beautiful set of pictures Icy, I saw a lot of the yellow flower here, but sadly, I do not know the name. Maybe, like Diane said, they are shrimp plants. the pink one are also lovely.

Amazing petals, so crisp and concise. I know how you feel in regards to taking photographs and not knowing what they are called. I think just knowing that they are there, makes all the difference.

Ana,

We've got together for a photo trip! By the time we come back, we wouldn't even know where we have gone! LOL..
