Star Orchids
I love orchid of all types, and there is no better place to see them than Belle Isle Conservatory. This giant green house is known for its collection of orchids, and the conservatory has faced financial difficulties for many years, it remains open for the public to enjoy.
At one time, visitors have to pay a low fee ($2 for children, $5 for adults) to enter, but it is worth the money spent! Though Belle Isle Aquarium next to it was closed down due to the expensive upkeep, the conservatory is thriving to stay open.
Cymbidium

For goodness' sake, I purposely took this picture with its name in the back, just so I can remember later! This orchid has star shapes, and the color is just indescribable! It has a bit of pink, and purple, white, and deep spotted dots.
One Beautiful Star

This is still a very young and small orchid with beautiful colors on it! My brother has a passion for orchids, and he uses to take so much time in caring for them. He talks to his orchids more than he talks to anyone else in the family.
Just One

This is as far as I can zoom in! Just one orchid with its beautiful petals and posture! Now looking at this photo, I realize that I should have shot this flower from a different angle to show off how beautiful it is.
A Full Branch

This one branch has 11 blooming orchids! They are all so delicate looking, young, and giving a fantastic show to their admirers.
Come Closer
Pink Stars Orchid

You can see the petals on these orchids at the lower part; they are all rolled up to form the stars shape look. Though these orchids have different color, they are in the same family. The top two orchids are still in full bloom!
Focus On Me

The middle orchid looks just like a star, isn't it? It is amazing how the petals are all rolled up like that!
Brownish Orchid

These orchids have slightly different colors, but they are in the same family. Since I do not have a fancy camera, I'm settled on how the flowers turned out in up-close mode.

So beautifulll....
The orchids look not only like stars, I see dancing queens as well.
They are truly magnificent flowers. My Father used to raise orchids in our greenhouse. While they seem so delicate looking they are hearty flowers. The star one is very different. I love it.
Bell Isle Conservatory must be a wonderful place to visit. I have never seen that type of orchid. Fascinating how the petals roll up to form the star shape. Lovely post!
Mys,
Thank you..
rainfield,
Aren't they? Some of the orchids are just like that: dancing queens!
Joanne,
They do look delicate, but yet very hearty like you said.
Diane,
They have some different types of orchids too, but I was drawn to this kind because of the star-look!
I've never seen orchids rolled up like this either. I like the dots on them. These flowers look so unique compared to the standard round flowers.
very pretty, makes me miss our place in the philippines. i had a lot of orchids there, and the last time i went home for visit, it saddened me that my orchids were getting less in number :( i especially love your pink star orchid
Ratty,
They are very unique! You should go to Bell Isle. I'm sure your pictures will turn out 10 times better than mine!
