Candle Light

(This is an expression of painful feelings! If you're uncomfortable with strong words, please don't read..)

I light the candles
To warm my heart
I light the candles
To search for my soul

In that flickering light
I saw your face
Not as a man
But as a mean animal.

In that flickering light
A filthy human comes alive
Selling me out
To trade for affection

The candle light can’t warm my heart
For you had, betraying my trust
The candle light can’t find my soul
For you had–swallow it whole!

I blow out the candles
I turn off the light
For only in darkness
That I can’t see your lowest being!

Icy, this is one of the most powerful pieces you have written. It's honesty seeps through the veins like ice. I can feel the anger and fear.

Superb photo here Icy and love the poem and it's a not bit disconcerting...for me. LOL.

It is an awesome poet, I am having the fear feeling penetrates into my marrow.

it's very powerful but not at all uncomfortable Icy. I can feel the strength of emotion here, of the anger, of the pain, of the fear.

beautiful words to describe such pain. On first glance, one would not realize how heavy your heart is. i hope that your candle will continue to burn... but not to show his mean being but to give you light for a path away from him.

This is a very heart-wrenching poem. Sorry I haven't been around lately, but when I saw this in my windows mail, I just had to come over and say how touching this is.

Icy, there is a lot anger and emotion in the words but at the same time it is very beautiful.
Well written.

Icy, you spoke from your heart. And now a load is off your chest(hopefully).
