Lily Leek Flowers
These flowers were my very first experiment with macro photography using Cannon Power Shot SD1000, and also I'd like you to have an idea what kind of camera I'm using! It's small enough for me to keep it inside my pocket.
Since then, I love macro photos because I can see many wonderful details of an ordinary subject, through the eye of my camera.
Lily Leek (Allium Molly)
These flowers took over my backyard by late May! They grew wildly, beautifully, and carelessly any where! They are called Lily Leek, which are also known as Golden Garlic!
Beautiful Pose
Lily Leek is very elegant looking, whether it is grown in a group, or bloomed by itself. As much as I love looking at these flowers, and try to prolong the grass from getting cut, they do have to go sometimes.
Look at Me
On Wikipedia website, it said that Lily Leek is primarily found in Southern France, and Spain. I have to add that they also grew here in Michigan.
Reaching Up
These Lily Leek flowers are cited as edible and carried medicinal benefits. I've not yet able to locate much information on these claims, so I will just enjoy watching them in my backyard for now.
Fascinating
These flowers were my very first victims! I hunted each individual flower down and took pictures of it from all the angles that I could think of. Some turned out great, and many others had to be discarded.
Have a great weekend!

Wow I rally like those. they look like their life is long. Nice and firm pedals.
ReplyDeleteNice photos and what a wonderful little flower!! I don't think I've found that one here in Illinois.
ReplyDeleteWow, I love all of the different angles of your shots and my favorite is "Look at Me!" Hard to believe that elegant flower grows wild. Delightful find!
ReplyDeleteYou presented them in different angles, to me, they look more like dancing.
ReplyDeleteSo cool....
Michigan certainly has a good variety of flowers. I'm not originally from here, but I do think there is much good in this state. Now if only the rest of the country would stop acting as if we are their unmentionable cousins, we can get back to living as we should.
ReplyDeleteThey're lovely. Often I find that the flowers that grow 'wild' are the most long lasting ones in the garden.
ReplyDeleteAnd sometimes if you look closely (as you've done here) you can unearth some real beauties.
You can see the folds in the petals. What fantastic photos to be able to see all of those details so clearly. Beautiful, Icy.
ReplyDeleteThese are very beautiful flowers, and you have great hunting skills in capturing them. I like the closeup where I can see the little yellow tips inside. You camera is a good one for what you do.
ReplyDeleteIcy, I just came from one of your other blogs and blogger would not give me the security string to post a comment. As usual I love your photos. It is such an elegant little flower. I love the ones that come up on their own. They are like unexpected gifts from God.
ReplyDeleteTake care & God bless. - Hey, there's a string on this one. lol
you really have a gift of capturing flowers at different angles showing their best beauty. love this set again Icy, and no matter what camera you use, it is the person who sees the beauty and capture it the way she wants it, and the talent shows.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! I've never seen a Lily Leek before. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI stopped by thanks to Ratty at Everyday Adventurer. Nice to meet you!

Very lovely. I have some blooming vines that I need to post so maybe someone can tell me what they are.
ReplyDeleteI am glad I stopped in. Your photos are beautiful!!
I use a RebelXSI for now. But, we are struggling to move up to the new SonyA-900 as we are going commercial.
I have found that many sites that buy photos require a quality that I can't get with 12.2mm camera.
Happy weekend...so glad you played the chipmunk game and I clicked on your link!:-)
The pictures turned out quite well. I wonder what a field full of Lily Leek flowers would look like.
ReplyDeleteNice!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of a lovely little flower. I haven't seen Lily Leek before it is very fascinating.
ReplyDeleteyou are so blessed to have a variety of beautiful flowers in your backyard. for me, i have to go outdoors to find and photograph them. i also use a plain digicam slightly bigger than yours as my smaller one have given up on me. i use macro too very often.
