Forgiveness

For all the pain that you have caused
I forgive you to ease my mind
I was your wife for all my adult life
Now, nothing left of us, except fights

You see in me the mean evil witch
Your whole being rooted, against mine
For twenty years you buried me alive
And who I am is what you’ve made me!

I was a human before I met you
With dreams, wishes, wants, and needs
You made sure those things are vanished
Denied my being, gave me no human rights

I forgive you, with all the pain you’ve caused
For between us now, endless unity
Since the children, bind us, tight us
On this earth, until the end of our lives!!!

  1. oh.., this reminds me of my murky past. :(

Icy, you are a good wife to be able to hang on for the children... in my case, i was not able to hang on for my child's sake for even her was forsaken by her biological father. how sad... just blessed to have found a second chance full of patience, understanding, and most of all - unconditional love. :)

  2. I'm so sorry for your pain and suffering, but your poem and flower picture made me realize that forgiveness can be very powerful, far reaching and beautiful.

  3. Forgiveness in your own mind is the best thing. It's the only thing that can ease a suffering soul. Your poem conveys that well.

  6. Forgiveness is so powerful. It is a gift God first gave us and you are right. You are forever bound by your children, as my first husband and I are. We love our children.

  8. Love should never be this painful. I pray that you will be able to let go and open your arms to a bright and beautiful second chance at love. You deserve it.

  10. oh! this poem makes me so sad.

for a thing that starts beautiful has to come to a painful end..

but life goes on, sacrifices has to be made and forgiveness has to be given.

  11. Oh, Icy, I am just now reading this incredible sad poem of yours. I ache for you and am glad you were able to voice this. You are an amazing woman!

My life with the father of my two youngest sons was pure hell. He was violent and abusive and I left him when the boys were one and three, following my extensive back surgery. He never saw nor supported the children and, sometimes, I thought I would not survive during my year and a half of disability. Thank God, I was a nurse and was able to get back to work.
