Investing in Gold Coins
Gold has always been a measure of wealth in many countries, and families. When a child is born, the first gift is usually a necklace, or a bracelet, or earrings in gold, at least in my family's tradition. The girl seems to get a combination of the above mentioned.
Though the time has changed, and technologies have taken over; gold has become less significant as gifts, but our older generation still believes in its value. They invest in gold bullion and sometimes, gold coin. My mother still wants to go to different jewelry stores to ask about gold prices. She trusts that gold will hold its value despite whatever going on in the world.
When taking my mother to jewelry stores, I got excited to see different gold coins as well. It is fascinating to exam the different designs of gold coins. There are American Eagle, Canadian Maple Leaf, Australian Gold Nugget, Chinese Gold Panda, and many others. While mother browses and compares the weight and shine of the coins, I just love to look at the delicate engraving.
I think my mother is the only one I know who still believes in gold investment rather than stocks, bonds, or other things. Is there anyone in your life who share this tradition?

I come from a family of farmers so I never thought about gold that much. Gold is something I see from afar. It's still something fascinating to look at for me though, especially coins. Different gold coins can be interesting because of their historical value.
I know my friends from Laos who own a Thai restaurant in San Francisco fled their homeland during the VietNam war. They were very afluent and fled with very little but their gold jewelry - much of it 24/22 karat. That is what they still purchase, not thinking that much of banks, CDs, etc.
As far as I know, gold doesn't hold the same value it once did. I have given most of mine to my children.
Every one want to save there wealth physically gold bullion is good choice. Thanks for the great reading, we buy gold bullion in a recession. I will pass this on to our ira clients to read.
We still practise giving gold as gifts - especially for a new born - bracelet, chain or a gold coin. But gold price has shot up :(
During weddings - Chinese,Malay or Indian , people still like to give gold and as it is expensive, the gift is shared .
