Keeping My House Safe With a Security System
As most of you know, I live in Metro Detroit, and in a rougher part of my city. The big street is just about five blocks away, and there are big restaurants such as Ruby Tuesday, Chilli, Logan, with Kroger, Best Buy, DSW Shoes, and Blockbuster among many other establishments.
Yet, Ruby Tuesday restaurant and Blockbuster were robbed at gun point, with both crimes happened in the day time also! It was a scary thought for me when it was so close to home. My first reaction when hearing about these was to look for Home Security Systems!
Living with young children, I feel very vulnerable, and my friend suggested checking out ADT Security! She has this installed in her house and was please with their service. She also has the added bonus from the two Boxer dogs she owned though!
Home security is on everybody's mind in my neighborhood after those incidents at Blockbuster and Ruby Tuesday. If the thieves can robbed these big companies in the middle of the day at gun point, they would not hesitated visiting private residents at all.
I feel bad for the business owners of these places, but I also grateful that these incidents brought more awareness to our neighborhood. It gives that edge to take action to safeguard my family.

Icy, that is so scary. In this day and age, I feel like there is no guarantee of safety anywhere. I know, when I worked at the SF Rape Treatment Center, there had been a murder on every block of the three between our office and the hospital!
ReplyDeleteI would feel so uncomfortable driving in to do cases at 3AM or leaving to return home late in the night.
For awhile, there was a rash of car thefts of employee's cars during their workday hours. Thieves would then drive to their homes - breaking open the glove compartment, with the registration inside and the garage door opener there or on the visor, and they would burglarize the home as well.
It is a crazy world. I think it is a good idea to have a home safety system - though I do not.
I was working in mgmt at Family Dollar when the store just a block from us was robbed at gunpoint. The clerk was killed. It certainly does put fear in you. When I was threatened by a customer one day, I gently reminded him that God chooses the day I leave this earth.
ReplyDeleteTake care, God bless & be safe!
