Scenic Sunday--The Detroit Yacht Club

To get off the island, we have to drive by this beautiful landmark of Belle Isle, The Detroit Yacht Club. Usually, I had no interest in this area, but on that day, the scenery was just beautiful.


This was what I saw driving up toward the bridge. I love the green color by the dock and the building is a mystery to me since I've never set foot in it.


The dock was pretty much empty since it's winter, but in the summer, there were plenty of boats all around this building.


I like this time of the year when all the trees are bare, because I can see more of this building, and other things around it.


This is the last shot from the bridge view. The building looks much bigger on this side.

Saving Money With Coupons

I am not a handyman or woman, but over the course of living with three kids, I can say that I'm not that useless in fixing a few minor things around our home. When something breaks, I will look to see if I am capable of doing the job myself before throwing in the towel and call the experts.

I haven't gotten into the habit of looking for free online coupons yet, but I am used to clip coupons for groceries and household products from newspaper already. Yes, it is another chore that taking time to do, but saving money is worth it. When I have to fit every penny into a tight budget, the coupons come in very handy.

Anyway, I have wanted to change the locks on my front and side doors for a while, since they are pretty damaged from daily uses. I go online to look for the types of locks available, and to gain some knowledge on this product before I make a trip to the hardware store.

While looking for locks, I find the Home Depot coupons online. These coupons are great savings for my Money Resource shortage. Every little bit helps!

From now on, I will make a mental note to look for online saving coupons before heading out to stores.

Scenic Sunday--The Manistee

While we were on the island, we often sat in our car and watched the freight go by! It was amazing to see such a big and heavy piece of metal sailed smoothly on the surface of water. Yet, if I got thrown in the water for any reason, I'll be at the bottom of the river in no time at all.

Sailing on By


We watched this ship came from the Ambassador Bridge direction, and waited for it to slowly pass by us. It was a thrill to see it so close.

Heading Out


We got out of the car to take pictures as the freight went by, and found the name of this freight on the side toward the front.

Majestic Looking


The front of this freight looks so heavy! We saw two workers on the side and waved to them. Sometimes, if the sailors see us, they would toot their horn to say hello also.

Sky Watch--A Touch of Gold

The sun comes out sometimes during the winter, and when it comes out, it is glorious. The beautiful sun gives us such a warm feeling even when it is freezing cold out there.


You can not feel how chilly the wind was in the picture, but I am telling you, it cut through my three layers of clothing, plus hat, mitten, and scarf. However, the golden sun behind the tree and the beautiful sky, worth it.


As the wind blew so hard, I think it must had moved my hands a little, but I like the effects in this photo anyway. It showed a bit of movement in the cloud.


Ok, I am going to be like Chicken Little and yelled "the sky is falling, the sky is falling", and run inside my car for coverage. It's crispy cold out there anyway.

Clothing for Men

Shopwiki is a very nice site to shop, especially when you have to shop for the men in your life. The website offers Mens Fall Style Guide, Mens Spring Style Guide, and Mens Winter Style Guide. I find these guides very helpful, and it keeps me updated on what others are wearing in the fashion world.

Though I am not slaved to fashion, but I dislike doing the returns of any kind, online and offline. Therefore, if I have to buy Clothing for Men, I rather do it right the first time, which means buy the right style for the right season.

So far I only have to buy Shirts and Ties, and Mens Pants for my oldest son. I have not ventured into the Mens Suits department for him yet, even though he has asked me to look. I feel more confident after reading the guide on Shopwiki, and have in mind what they should be. I think my ideas of what my son likes pretty much in sync with him.

Shopping should be fun, and I am having a blast with virtual shopping online. I sometimes do window shopping too at the malls just to get inspired or change scenery.

Scenic Sunday--Bridge to the Island

This is the bridge that connects us to Belle Isle. In the summer, you can see pedestrians, and cyclists taking this bridge to the island for a fun day.


I took the kids to the island on a nice warm day last month, and we spent more time exploring! Like most people, we were drawn to the water.


Though we would love to spend all of our time on the shoreline of the Detroit River, we couldn't since it was full of droppings from the seagulls, geese and ducks. We had to watch every step that we took.
