Scenic Sunday--Banana Tree

In the main wing at the Belle Isle Conservatory, there are different fruit trees. I've seen orange, lemon, and banana trees in this part of the Conservatory before, but this time I looked up by the demand of my little kids.

This must be the tallest banana tree in this dome, because the ones I saw before are much shorter and close to the ground. The scenery was very captivating, and that little red leaf was just wonderful to see.

My camera zoomed all the way in to get this picture, and I love all the palm leaves as the background for this banana tree. The Conservatory is my tropical paradise, and is my "stay-cation" spot during the winter.

Banana is one of the healthiest fruit to eat. It is convenient, affordable, and available all year round. It is full of vitamins, and potassium. Banana leaves are used to cook with, and that red leaf "thingy" up there are shredded to make wonderful cole slaw or used in other dishes.

As I've mention earlier, there are lower banana trees in this Conservatory. This one almost touch the ground. The body on this banana tree is green and not white like the one in the first two photos.

  3. Wow! That is one tall banana tree. I just started liking banana a couple of years ago. I believe it's because the ones I had before the last time I changed my mind, wasn't good...

  4. Awesome photos of the banana tree, I love it. When I lived in Georgia my dad planted banana trees for several years. He would dig them up in the fall and store them in the basement until spring to protect them from the cold. I remember the beautiful red bloom.

  7. Wonderful! I don't think I ever saw banas on a tree. I actully pictured them growing down, not up (I mean the orientation of the fruit cluster)

  10. This is pretty good. You get to see plants that would normally be in other parts of the world. You get to travel to far off places just by going into the conservatory.
