Yellow Flowers-Forsythias
This is the little shrub/bush that I saw blooming at the moment. At first, I thought those yellow flowers are yellow leaves, but up close and personal, they are flowers with four petals.
These are called forsythias shrub, and is one of the trees that are burst into blossoms from the ground to the tip of each branch.
This shrub is a fast growing shrub for zones 4-9 in the US. Forsythias like full sun, and little shade. They will grow almost in any soil, and are very tolerant of poor growing condition. This flower shrub makes perfect hedges.
It is said that you can cut some branches and bring them inside in late winter. Then a week or two later, you will be able to enjoy an early flower bouquet. Hmm..this sounds very tempting, isn't it?

Very good closeup. I think I've seen flowers like these recently, but I could never get close to them. Now I know what I would get to see.

ReplyDeleteThere seems to be a lot of blooms for this particular type of bush. It kinda reminds of lilies. I wonder if they come in other colors as well...
ReplyDeleteIn the South, these have always been early blooming shrubs, growing to huge sizes with their wonderful yellow blossoms. They always make me homesick for spring in Georgia.
